Coming of a stirring, come-from-behind victory over #2 Arizona State yesterday, the Bears dominated throughout today's game two showdown, clinching their first conference title in 25 years with a Val Arioto 5-0 shutout victory at Levine-Fricke Field in Berkeley.
Donning pink jerseys on StrikeOut Cancer Day, the Bears rode Arioto's arm (11 strikeouts, complete game shutout) and the bats of freshman Danielle Henderson (2 hits, 3 RBI) and Elia Reid (2-run single) to victory in front of 1,025 fans in Strawberry Canyon.
Cal moved to 50-3/21-2 heading into Saturday's noon finale with ASU (45-7/17-4).
