OT: UConn and the NCAA -

Just read that UConn's Alex Oriakhi is transferring to Missouri. He can play immediately rather than sitting out a year because UConn isn't eligible for next year's tournament because of several years of poor academic progress rate scores.
So, if a coach leaves and a student wants to transfer they generally have to sit out a year. But if a team doesn't do well academically -- for which the program bears some responsibility, but so do the athletes -- they can bail without penalty. This doesn't seem right.
